How To Become a YMA Member and Pay Dues

You must be:

1. Registered, licensed and in good standing with the Yukon Medical Council
2. A resident of the Yukon (2 pieces of documentation is required to provide proof of residency).

You must be:

1. Registered and in good standing with the Yukon Medical Council as a specialist,
2. Reside in Canada, but outside Yukon, and
3. Provide medical services in the Yukon on an itinerant basis

• May be subject to AGM weekend social events fees to cover costs
• No voting rights
• Access to Locum Benefits and CMPA reimbursement
• No societal dues apply—they are covered by the Government of Yukon or through locum support funds if the physican is contracted to provide locum support for a Yukon physician

You must be:

1. A physician licensed to practice in another jurisdiction in Canada and in good standing with the body or bodies responsible for licensing physicians in each jurisdiction in which the person is licensed to practice,
2. Reside in Canada, but outside Yukon, and
3. Are not a Visiting Specialist

In accordance with section 4(2) of An Act Respecting the Yukon Medical Association, as amended, all medical practitioners must pay dues regardless of whether they join the Yukon Medical Association or not.

A person is therefore classified as a non-member Dues Contributor if they:

• are licensed and in good standing with the Yukon Medical Council;
• provide medical services in the Yukon;
• have been offered, and have declined, the opportunity to join the Yukon Medical Association; and,
• as such are required to pay annual dues as set by the Board.

Dues Contributors are not members of the Society and are not entitled to vote, hold office, or access member-only services.

Dues payable by Dues Contributors will be set by the Board with reference to the membership fees that would have been payable had the person opted to become a member of the Yukon Medical Association.this is for anyone who solely wants to pay their societal dues but does not wish to be a YMA member nor access membership benefits.

You must be:

1. Formerly a Full Member,
2. Retired as of April 1 of the new membership year, and
3. Not earn any income from providing professional medical services, including medical consulting or medical expert opinion advice

• May be subject to AGM weekend social events fees to cover costs
• No voting rights

You must be:

• Enrolled in a post-graduate medical program at an accredited medical school in Canada

• Access to Medical Student Support
• May be subject to AGM weekend social events fees to cover costs
• No voting rights

You must be:

• Enrolled in an undergraduate medical program at an accredited medical school in Canada

• May be subject to AGM weekend social events fees to cover costs
• No voting rights
• No access to YMA-YG Benefit Funds

You must be:

• An Honourary Member of the CMA in order to be granted admission as an Honourary Member of the YMA but this does not guarantee honourary membership with the YMA
